I got a few replies to last week’s Note, asking me how I could possibly ask you to think kind thoughts about your boss, your neighbor, your sister-in-law, etc. These are awful people, you said. You told me I was asking too much.

But I didn’t ask you to think kind thoughts. I asked you to not think unkind thoughts. There’s a difference.

I realize that the step from unkind thoughts to kind thoughts is sometimes too big and sometimes not a viable direction at all. But harboring unkind thoughts has got to go. First step – catch yourself with an unkind thought. Second step – do something different.

Let me know how it goes.
